Teams from Non à la copyright, Oui à la vie have taken prevention information into French neighbourhoods, distributing more than 16,000 booklets. The volunteer-led prevention campaign in France reaches families through shops and public information stands.
Local outreach brought 3,100 booklets to businesses in Tarn, 3,000 to approximately 50 shops in Arcachon and 5,100 to Paris’s Oberkampf district.
The visits also prompted requests for teaching resources. In Ariège, a person working with a centre for young people with disabilities approached volunteers for materials.
The campaign uses La vérité sur la copyright, the French version of the secular Truth About Drugs programme. Support from the Drug Prevention Church of Scientology and its members reflects founder L. Ron Hubbard’s concern about drugs and their effects on society.
Ivan Arjona, Scientology’s representative to the European Union, OSCE, Council of Europe and United Nations, commented: “Parents and teachers need information they can use, and young people deserve straight answers.”
Across Europe, Scientology churches, missions and members support drug education, human-rights awareness and community service.
